Bhubaneswar: A drunk youth brandishing a sword created intense panic among local residents in the Kharavel Nagar police station area of Bhubaneswar late at Saturday night. The incident, fueled by a past group rivalry, led to severe tension across the locality.
On June 24, police had arrested four youths for brandishing sword in the area and attacking some people.
Preliminary investigation reports have suggested that the attacked youth might have brandished the sword outside the rivalry gang members house in an act of revenge.
On being informed, the Kharavelanagar police reached the spot and brought the situation under control and started an investigation.The police has also increased patrolling in the local area.
It is worth mentioning that a few days ago, some miscreants brandished sword and attacked some people in the Kargil Basti area of the capital. Two people were seriously injured in this incident.
The incident took place after a minor dispute turned violent in the capital city. One of the injured people was in critical condition and was shifted to AIIMS Hospital. Meanwhile, the other one person is in stable condition.
