Bhabanipatana: In a major breakthrough, Bhabanipatna Sadar Police arrested seven persons who were allegedly planning to carry out a night-time dacoity on Wednesday Bhabanipatana area of Kalahandi district. A firearm and several lethal weapons were seized from their possession during the operation.
According to police, the accused were apprehended during a raid conducted under the jurisdiction of Bhabanipatana Sadar Police Station following specific intelligence inputs about their alleged plan to commit dacoity. The seized items include a firearm and various sharp and deadly weapons believed to have been intended for use in the crime.
Police said some of the arrested persons are residents of Hill Town, while others belong to Badapada and different localities in and around Bhabanipatana.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the criminal antecedents of the accused and determine whether they were involved in any other offences. Police are also probing possible links with other criminal activities in the region.
