Odisha vigilance arrests VIMSAR official, steward arrested in disproportionate assets case

 Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested Dhanurdhar Biswal, Officer-cum- Office Superintendent, and Aswini Meher, Steward, both serving at VIMSAR Burla, Sambalpur, on charges of possession of disproportionate assets.

According to an official press release, Meher and Biswal was placed under arrest by Odisha Vigilance and is scheduled to be produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur, in connection with the case.

During the raids the Investigators found that Biswal owned two buildings, including a multi‑storeyed structure of 1,700 sq ft, 32 plots, cash worth ₹19.72 lakhs, gold weighing 83.05 grams, deposits exceeding ₹39 lakhs, two Hyva trucks, two tractors, and one four‑wheeler. He failed to justify the sources of these assets.


Following which,  Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station Case No. 09/2026 has been registered against Biswal under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.

Similarly, the vigilance  unearthed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. These include three buildings, including one multi-storeyed structure measuring 8,145 sq. ft., one store room, 83 grams of gold, and 10 valuable plots of land. He was unable to satisfactorily account for these assets, the release stated.

In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station Case No. 08/2026 has been registered against Meher under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.
