ORMAS Opens Rakhi Stall In Bhubaneswar To Promote Rural Handicrafts

Bhubaneswar: A Rakhi stall showcasing handmade and eco-friendly products crafted by rural artisans and producer groups of Odisha was inaugurated by the Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) at Patia here on Monday on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

ORMAS Additional CEO Geetanjali Behera inaugurated the stall in the presence of officials and employees of the organisation.

The stall features a range of traditional Rakhis made from natural and locally available materials, including sabai grass, cane, paddy, bamboo and cowrie shells. Rakhis featuring Jagannath motifs and Pattachitra artwork are also among the products being displayed and sold at the stall.

The initiative seeks to provide rural women, artisans and producer groups with better market opportunities for their handmade products while creating greater visibility for Odisha’s traditional art, craftsmanship and indigenous materials.

Through such market-linked initiatives, ORMAS is promoting rural livelihoods and encouraging consumers to support locally made, sustainable and traditional products.
