Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Legislative Assembly was adjourned today again as the House could not function normally amid uproar over MMDR Bill. The House was adjourned till 4 pm following continuous uproar and slogan-shouting by opposition members.
After a one-day break, the House resumed its Monsoon Session on Monday. However, the situation remained the same as opposition members from the BJD and Congress created a ruckus over the MMDR Bill and alleged errors in textbooks.
Opposition legislators raised slogans in front of the Speaker’s podium. Despite repeated appeals by Speaker Surama Padhy, the protest continued unabated. The House was first adjourned till 11:30 am. When it reassembled, the same chaotic scene was repeated as opposition members continued their protest over various issues. Amid loud slogans and disorder, the Speaker was finally compelled to adjourn the proceedings till 4 pm.
