Bhubaneswar: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will construct a new guest house in Puri for pilgrims, officials said on Saturday.
The proposed guest house will be named ‘Patitapaban Bhakta Niwas’ and will come up on land behind the Niladri Bhakta Niwas.SJTA chief administrator Arabinda Kumar Padhee said the administration has written to the Works Department principal secretary requesting preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) to expedite construction.
The SJTA has also sought funds from the state government under the ‘ABADHA’ scheme for the project. The proposal has already been approved by the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee headed by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb.
The new facility will also have a state-of-the-art conference hall (Kalyan Mandap) and a dispensary. The state-owned Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation Limited (OBCC) will execute the project, the statement said.
At present, the temple administration operates four guest houses for devotees — Niladri, Nilachal, Srigundicha and Purushottam Bhakta Niwas.
