Bhadrak Police Bust Cow Smuggling Racket, Two Arrested

Bhadrak: Bhadrak police on Friday night busted a suspected cow-smuggling racket following coordinated raids at six locations across the town, leading to the arrest of two persons and the seizure of cash, gold ornaments, and bank passbooks.

Acting on specific inputs, police carried out simultaneous raids at six premises linked to alleged cow smugglers under Bhadrak Town Police Station and Bhadrak Old Bazaar Police Station limits. Of these, three locations fall under Bhadrak Town Police Station and three under Bhadrak Old Bazaar Police Station.

During the operation, two persons were arrested. They have been identified as Jahid Khan alias Jaiful (19), a resident of Nangamahala village under Puruna Bazar Police Station in Bhadrak district, and Matar Khan of Bhadrak district.

Cash, gold ornaments, and bank passbooks were recovered during the searches. The coordinated raids were conducted under the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police.

Preliminary investigation suggests links to a wider smuggling network, and efforts are underway to identify other persons involved.

Further investigation is underway.
