Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2026, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Odisha and described yoga as a great tradition of Indian culture and human welfare.
In his message, the CM said, “Today is not just a celebration for us, but a day to remember the great tradition of our ancient Indian practice, culture and human welfare.” He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts and inspiration for yoga’s global popularity, calling it “India’s invaluable asset” that has connected the world to a healthy lifestyle.
Highlighting this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” Majhi said it is very relevant to today’s busy lifestyle. “Yoga is not just an exercise, but a path to a healthy and balanced life. Regular practice makes the body beautiful, the mind calm and life positive,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that yoga is especially beneficial for healthy aging as it increases physical flexibility, balance and immunity while reducing mental stress. He appealed to people to participate in large numbers in the state-wide mass yoga practice programs to help build a healthy society. “Let us all accept yoga as an integral part of life, bring the benefits of healthy aging and a healthy life to every home, and contribute to building a healthy, prosperous and empowered Odisha,” Majhi said.
