Narsinghpur: The husband of the sarpanch or head of the Gram Panchayat of Maniabandh under Badamba block in Narsinghpur has sustained critical injuries after being hit by bullet on Friday morning.
The Sarpanch’s husband Kalia Jena was on his way to saloon, when three unidentified miscreants came and opened fire at him at Kuapala Chhak under Maniabandh police limits and fled from the scene.
The locals rescued him and rushed him to Maniabandh hospital for medical aid. After his health condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital. He had sustained injuries on his chest and leg.
On being informed, the Manibandh police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
It is suspected that some old rivalry had led to the incident.
