Bhubaneswar: Pramila Mallik, Chief Whip of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Legislature Party, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) of the Odisha Legislative Assembly for the financial year 2026-27.
According to a notification issued by the Odisha Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Speaker Surama Padhy nominated Pramila Mallik, who is the Chief Whip of the Biju Janata Dal Legislature Party, to head the committee.
The 12-member PAC was constituted under Rule 135(1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. Mallik’s appointment as Chairperson was made under Rule 197(1).
Members of the Public Accounts Committee are Pramila Mallik (Chairperson), Rama Chandra Kadam, Dr Aruna Kumar Sahu, Ganeswar Behera, Sanatan Bijuli, Akash Dasnayak, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Ashok Mohanty, Babu Singh, Santosh Khatua, Amar Kumar Nayak and Arabinda Mohapatra.
The Public Accounts Committee is considered one of the most important financial oversight bodies of the state legislature. It examines reports submitted by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India and closely scrutinises government spending to ensure that public money is utilised efficiently, legally, and as per the approvals granted by the Assembly.
