Jeypore: Jeypore Town Police have successfully cracked four theft cases reported from different parts of the town and arrested six persons, including three juveniles, in connection with the crimes.
Addressing a press conference at Jeypore Town Police Station on Saturday, SDPO Achita Mittal said the arrests were made following investigations into a series of theft incidents reported over the past month. Police also recovered approximately ₹3 lakh in cash and various stolen articles from the accused.
The three adult accused have been identified as Rinku Bag (20) of Odia Medri Sahi, Rabindra Bagh (32) of Gopabandhu Nagar, and Rakhel Khara (19) of Hatapada.
According to police, on June 13, miscreants broke the windows of Vikram Dev Hostel, damaged furniture and other property, and committed theft. Following a complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested Rinku Bag. Stolen items including iron cots, plastic chairs and an auto-rickshaw were seized from his possession.
In another case reported on June 16, involving the theft of cash and crowns from Bankeshwar Mahadev Temple and Gopinath Temple, police arrested Rabindra Bagh and recovered ₹2,350 from him.
Police also solved a theft case reported on May 26 at a spare parts shop near Gandhi Chowk. Two juveniles were apprehended in connection with the incident, and ₹2,500 in cash along with company cash tokens worth ₹2,300 were recovered.
Similarly, in a major theft case reported on June 7 involving the theft of ₹6.85 lakh from a business establishment on Canal Road, police arrested Rakhel Khara and a juvenile accomplice. A total of ₹2,75,500 was seized from them.
Police records reveal that Rinku Bag has nine criminal cases registered against him at Jeypore Town Police Station, while Rabindra Bagh has seven and Rakhel Khara has three previous cases.
The three adult accused have been forwarded to court, while the juveniles were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
