Kakatapur: Now-a-days, looters are targeting various temples across the state. These temple looters are mostly rampant in the Astarang area of Puri district, triggering unease among the locals. In the last six months, nearly 18 temples and mathhs in the Kakatpur and Asatarang area have been looted of cash, gold and other valuable.
Even though there had been repeated incidents of temple being robbed, the looters are yet to be caught and continue to evade police arrest.
In a latest case of robbery, the Harisahadeb temple in Sisua panchayat was robbed last Wednesday night. The looters allegedly stole 1300 grams of silver crown, copper utensils, and the donation box from the temple.
The repeated incidents of robbery have created panic and discontent among the people. They have demanded the police to arrest these robbers as soon as possible and increased security at the temples.
