Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic depression has further moved northwestwards and is now centred over south Jharkhand and adjoining north interior Odisha.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin issued at 0530 hours IST today, the centre of the depression lies near latitude 22.4°N and longitude 85.7°E. It is currently located close to the southwest of Chaibasa (Jharkhand), about 70 km southwest of Jamshedpur, 110 km south-southeast of Ranchi, and 170 km east-southeast of Jashpurnagar in Chhattisgarh. The system moved northwestwards at a speed of 8 kmph during the past six hours.
The IMD has forecast that the depression is very likely to continue moving northwestwards across Jharkhand, adjoining north Odisha, and North Chhattisgarh during the next 24 hours.
With this movement, widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected over parts of Jharkhand, north Odisha, and North Chhattisgarh in the coming day.
The intensity of rain is likely to decrease gradually as the system moves further inland.
