Jagatsinghpur: In view of the heavy to very heavy rainfall warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Jagatsinghpur district administration has ordered the closure of all schools across the district on Monday (July 27, 2026).
The decision was announced on Sunday as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students amid the possibility of adverse weather conditions.
An official order issued by the Office of the Collector and District Magistrate, Jagatsinghpur, stated that the closure would remain applicable to all government, government-aided, and privately managed schools in the district.
The order covers institutions at the elementary, secondary, and higher secondary levels, including Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) functioning in Jagatsinghpur.
According to the IMD forecast, the district is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated spells of extremely heavy rainfall, due to the formation of a low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and North Odisha.
The district administration has advised all educational institutions, parents, and stakeholders to strictly follow the closure order and take necessary precautions in view of the prevailing weather situation.
